Following a serious car accident, Coby Omvlee spent more than a year in hospital. Here she found herself serving as an involuntary «spy» in the Norwegian health care system.
*Co-production | **World premiere!
Thanks to a skilled surgeon, competent nurses, intravenous nutrition, her doctor-husband, her own efforts and a large network, Omvlee survived the accident. But in the months that followed, her life was threatened several times by misjudgments and routine glitches. Or were they really just individual mistakes and accidental mishaps?
Omvlee returned from the hospital, feeling like she had just been thrown in a tumble dryer. With her, she brought a lot of questions, and a strong need to pose them in public. But to whom?
This performance is built on her own experiences and observations, as well as interviews with health care professionals and experts throughout Scandinavia. Together with filmmaker Randi Størseth, Teater Fusentast has made an unembellished documentary performance about life and politics in and around the neo-liberal hospital bed.
