They have visited a uterus-festival, dived into the literature, investigated their own gender games and searched for the Goddess within (and without) as research for this project. But first and foremost, they have listened to women.
If women have failed to make ‘universal’ art because we’re trapped within the ‘personal’, why not universalize the ‘personal’ and make it the subject of our art? – Chris Kraus
Bare en våt munn is a documentary performance in which the new theatre company Lindeberg/Nilsen explores Western culture’s prevalent ideas about womanhood. Amongst their data are twenty-something interviews of women of different ages and backgrounds, autobiographical texts, gender symbols and pop cultural clichés. How do we relate to a female identity that is expected to be performed and upheld by women? What exists behind our own performance? In the grey areas? In the play between submission and dominance, in the tension between lust, elimination and love?
After several collaborations with Katja Brita Lindeberg, we are excited to experience this brand-new constellation with Madeleine B. Nilsen. We are proud and excited to co-produce their first project!
